Molecular biology

Our molecular biology methods include gene sequencing, PCR, creation of cDNA library and cRNA probes, in situ hybridization, lentivirus and adenovirus gene silencing and overexpression in the brain.

In situ hybridization gives us possibility to detect the levels of expression and particular pattern of distribution of mRNAs in the brain.

Methods

For example, this picture depicts rostro-caudal distribution of brain expression of cannabinoid receptor CB1 mRNA.

Methods

Using in situ hybridization we can see what part of the brain is activated. For example, Condition 1 activates the parvocellular part of the paraventricular hypothalamic nucleus (PVHp), while Condition 2 activates the magnocellular part of the paraventricular hypothalamic nucleus (PVHm).
